Rules

Welcome to the gourd patch. This group is for all members of the cucurbit family Cucurbitaceae. It is for those of us that love to grow hard shelled gourds, pumpkins, luffas, squash etc. This will most likely be a photo group. What I would love to see most would be photos of gourds hanging from arbors. I think that is lovely. But all other art forms are welcome too. I'd even love to see your birdhouse gourds being used by birds. Be sure to read all our rules.

:bulletorange: If I invited one of your deviations then you are also invited to post more to the group. Please join, you are welcome here.

:star:RULES:star:
:bulletgreen: Please post to the correct folder. Gourd art is for painted and carved gourds. Art of gourds is for drawings or sculptures OF gourds. If you have any questions just ask me.
:bulletgreen: No Carved Pumpkins We all love Jack-o-lanterns but the main focus here is growing and other forms of cucurbit art. We love Halloween and carving pumpkins is great fun but there are already lots of Halloween groups dedicated to just that. Carved gourds are accepted. See our affiliates for that.
:bulletgreen: Art and photos must be your own. No stealing art.
:bulletgreen: No nudity of any kind. No adult/sex/pornographic/dirty images. You will be banned. No disgusting fetishes.
:bulletgreen:Be nice to the other members. No fighting
:bulletgreen: Commenting and communication is encouraged. Tell the other members they did a nice job.
:bulletgreen: Enjoy

Hello everyone. I'm sorry I have not posted a journal in a year. I have let the group fall into inactivity. It's been hard as this is not my primary account and so few people here grow pumpkins, gourds etc.  I shall invite some photos and artworks.  Surely there must be many by now.  We lost one member sadly and since we are so small we can not afford to lose anyone. I hope by inviting that we'll get more members and they will be active. Don't wait for my invite post things on your own.

My house is ready for Halloween on the inside at least.  It looks very nice.  I think we all are fans of this time of year. And pumpkins, gourds and other cucurbits are finally out.  Once I stock up on them I can't wait to decorate the outside with them.  I still have my giant Hubbard from last year. Yes many winter squash/pumpkins can last a year if cared for right and kept in a cool dry place.  This is why pumpkins are called Long Keepers.  I will place him outside but this may be his last year.  We shall see.

So has your growing gone this year and what are you doing for Halloween?

finding the ball gourd seeds are difficult at times !!! I wanted to see what they actually looked like while growing. Saw some pics today at the site here but didn't check the name of the owner of pics.
